The new 12-hour Certificate in Public and Professional Writing is appropriate for students in any major, including technical ones, as it can enhance their credentials for employment.

Program Mission

The Certificate in Public and Professional Writing provides students with additional training and experience in disciplinary, workplace, and public (e.g., civic, community-based) writing, preparing them to be effective, flexible professional communicators.

Key Features

• Only prereq for all courses is ENC 1102
• Writing-intensive courses in any major can count toward the certificate
• Emphasizes professional or workplace writing
• Self-directed program—students choose among a variety of courses
• Students develop a compelling e-portfolio of writing to share with potential employers
