Adele Richardson: Excellence in Teaching and Advising

March 2017

photoAdele Richardson of the Department of Writing and Rhetoric has had a busy year so far, winning two awards for her outstanding work as a professor and academic advisor. Adele won the 2017 College of Arts & Humanities Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award and the 2017 University Excellence in Undergraduate Faculty Academic Advising Award. Only two advising awards will be given out in 2017 for the entire university, and Adele is one of only 21 faculty receiving undergraduate teaching awards for the entire university this year. The limited nature of these awards testifies to the success of Adele’s work with students as a teacher and academic advisor.

Adele has a long and successful history at UCF. She has served as an instructor since 2009, a faculty advisor in the department since 2013, and in 2016 was promoted to associate instructor. She advises all undergraduate students within the department of writing and rhetoric, including those in the major, the minor, and the certificate program. Adele currently teaches first-year composition courses as well as our professional editing and rhetorical grammar courses. This was not Adele’s first time winning an award, as she received the 2013 College of Arts & Humanities Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award previously. We are very proud of her accomplishments. Congratulations, Adele!
